The way youth football is played and run is set to undergo significant changes again, following the announcement by the FA of a new initiative called Future Fit.

Beginning in the 2026/27 season, the Football Association will implement changes to grassroots youth football, with the aim of enhancing the playing experience for children. The initiative will increase engagement, improve skill development and fit game formats more closely with players’ developmental stages.

The main changes announced so far are:

1. Introduction of 3v3 Format at U7 Level

The biggest change is a new 3v3 format for players under the age of seven. This structure is designed so young players will have more touches of the ball and have a better introduction to football. Specially sized goals will be required for these games, get yours here and be ready to go when the changes come in: https://mhgoals.com/football/goals-3v3/

2. Adjustment of Format Progression

Ever since the last major update to the youth game in 2012, as players advance through the age groups the team size, pitch size and goal size has increased. With Future Fit the FA are refining this system, most notably players will now move to the 11-a-side football format a year later, from the Under-13 level to Under-14. This change aims to ensure that players develop the necessary skills before progressing to larger pitches where physicality can replace technical ability.

3. Matching Educational Stages

These changes will align the changes of football format with the changes that happen in education. Children will play the smaller formats with simplified rules throughout primary school, then move to 9v9 and more complex rules when they begin secondary school.

4. Law Changes

The laws of the game will be tweaked at different age levels to support the overall development of young players. For example, changes have been made to game restarts for Under-7s to Under-9s to increase ‘ball in play’ time.

5. Phasing Out of Heading in Matches

In an effort to improve player safety, deliberate heading will be phased out for players under 11. This decision follows a successful trial and aims to reduce potential head injury risks while improving technical skills.

More details will be released about these changes as we get closer to the 2026/2027 season and MH Goals will be here to give you the support you need to be ready.

MH Goals has recently completed fitting out the new Everton Stadium, in time for its first test event this February.

The goal assembled at the new Everton stadium

Following an exhaustive tender process, MH Goals was chosen to fully supply the new £500m Everton Stadium, which is due to open in time for the 2025/26 season.

The contract included providing FIFA Quality Stadium goals, FIFA quality fold-away training goals and spectator ball stop posts – all of which are designed and manufactured at our factory in Beccles, Suffolk – plus corner poles and embroidered flags.

We were first approached by the club’s procurement agency in 2024, who were looking for a company which could supply world-class equipment. Working closely with the key people responsible for developing the stadium, we gave them expert guidance about what would be the most suitable products for what they wanted to achieve, along with detailed setting-out and installation guides for the ground works to be completed.

With strict time frames in place, our in-house team managed and carried out the final delivery and installation over several days, ensuring everything was completed ahead of the stadium’s first test event on February 17, 2025, an under-18s game between the Toffees and Wigan Athletic.

“We’re delighted that this incredible new stadium will feature products designed and manufactured in the UK,” said Matthew Harrod, Sales Director at MH Goals. “It’s been an exciting journey, and we’re thrilled to have played a role in creating a top-tier footballing venue that meets the highest FIFA standards.”

This project underscores MH Goals’ ability to deliver high-quality football equipment for elite-level facilities.

MH Goals is delighted to announce its new Stadium Box Goal has been officially recognised as a FIFA Quality Product.

This latest top accreditation for us has been a number of years in the making, and has been a key aim for the company since the new standard was announced by FIFA.

The new quality standard was an opportunity to overhaul and redesign our popular top of the range box goal, to not only pass this new standard but also give clubs and schools an outstanding and innovative product.

The goals have a number of special features, including external micro height adjustment, strengthened aluminium section and a new net attachment system which is encapsulated into the goal frame using MH Goals’ Hold Fast net hooks. The folding net rail has been upgraded and now includes a ground locking system, added strengthening wire to the nets and upgraded the net support system to included heavy duty straps and failsafe wire.

The renowned accreditation builds on the safety standard BSEN748 and BSEN16579, but requires a number of other key workplace polices. These include the companywide quality standard ISO9001, having an independent work place assessment to World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry standards (WFSGI) and specific FIFA approved insurances.

The goals were then tested by an approved FIFA test house, to the latest FIFA safety standards.

‘This new pro goal has been in progress for some time so it’s great to not only introduce it to the football world but also to have the all-important FIFA accreditation to go with it,” said Sales Director Matthew Harrod. “At MH Goals we strive to be at the forefront of the market with our range of unique British manufactured products but also to have the international quality marks and accreditations to back it up’.

The new Stadium Box Goal will make its Premier League appearance at the start of the 2023/24 season and is available to purchase now.

While our freestanding box goal has been a staple at many clubs across the country for years, we never stand still, and this summer we’ve made a number of upgrades to keep it at the top of the league.

Firstly, we’ve implemented a new net retention system. This removes the rachet and strap from the back of the goal that would often become broken over time. In its place we now have a reinforced top wire (like our FIFA Pro Box Goal) along with straining bolts. This not only keeps the net tighter for longer, but also removes the temptation to over-rachet the net which causes damage to the goal.

We’ve also reinforced the internal front joints which has enabled us to remove the front lower brace from the goal. By doing this there’s no risk of a goal being disallowed due to it striking and then rebounding off this brace.

As more and more clubs move to having a 3G pitch as their main playing surface, it’s important to keep on top of the safety requirements, which include the wheels. Our Evo wheel already passes the BSEN16579 safety standard, but following feedback we have now started to produce a foam cover for these wheels. The Evo wheel has a unique feature which enables the user to remove the small turn handle, so now once this has been removed the wheel can be completely covered, leaving a small access hole at the top for the long reach handle to be used. This enables the wheel to not only be covered but the goals can still be moved as well.

We always pride ourselves on product innovation and bringing new and unique goals to the market.

In 2018 we were the first in the UK to bring out a new wheel that conformed to the latest safety standard BSEN16579. It’s since become standard across our range of freestanding wheel goals. The Evolution wheel was granted its patent back in 2020 and we’re delighted to announce that the Revolution goal has now been granted its patent as well.

We released the unique Revolution lift and lower swivel wheel back in 2020 – with its all-terrain tyre, great ground clearance and ability to work on both synthetic pitches and any type of grass pitch, it’s unique in the marketplace. The ability to easily move it, even through tight accesses and narrow gateways, meant it swiftly became a firm favourite with our customers.

Gaining a patent (GB2602269) for this goal further reinforces our commitment to product innovation, quality and value for our customers. The Revolution goal is available in a range of sizes, models and can be found here.

This week Pressure Jet Markers has reached the grand old age of 70.

Pressure Jet Markers 1st advert

For seven decades the marvellous machines made by PJM have been laying down straight, consistent lines at sports grounds around the world – and with the Linesman and the Dimple leading the way in 2022, they show no signs of stopping.

In the same year that Princess Elizabeth became Queen, a talented engineer named Hugo Varley joined a firm called Peacock and Holmes Ltd. The Surrey company had been making line marking machines for a year, but it was Varley’s investment and expertise which really set them on their way to success.

Their lead product was the Pressure Jet Marker, which took the revolutionary step of removing the marking wheel and pressure-applying the paint to the surface using a rotary pump driven by the rear wheels. This had the advantage of being able to lay a consistent line across a variety of surfaces including mud, frosty grass and even cinder tracks. It swiftly became the line marker of choice and so they named their company after it, and Pressure Jet Marker Ltd was born.

A move to larger premises in Hammersmith soon followed, and the range expanded to include more line markers (both hand and tractor drawn) as well as hedge cutters, power pumps and even starting blocks! In the late 50s they released the first ever power-driven line marker which at £150 was out of the reach of most clubs, but was swiftly adopted by councils and large organisations.

Throughout the 60s and 70s the company expanded further, and turned their attention to a range of more budget friendly transfer wheel machines. It was during this period that one of the world’s finest transfer wheel line marking machines was born – The Dimple. The machine was a revelation, using a unique dimpled transfer wheel that was far superior at moving and distributing the paint from tank to pitch, and the extra weight from its cast iron construction aided the definition of the line it produced.

The Dimple’s quality meant it was soon the marker of choice at the country’s finest venues including Wembley, Wimbledon, and The Queen’s Club, and it is still used at many Premier League clubs and other elite venues today.

In 2016, with the directors looking to retire, Pressure Jet Markers was facing the final whistle. If no buyer could be found they would cease trading and the great company would be consigned to the history books. This was when MH Goals stepped in and gave Pressure Jet Markers a new home. As a company that prized quality engineering, it was a perfect fit. And by retaining the name, the distinguished heritage was kept alive.

Today the trusted design is still there, albeit enhanced by laser cut parts, zinc plating and improved powder coating to the machines, so groundsmen and women still get Pressure Jet Markers’ trusted design, combined with today’s quality manufacturing for ease of use and enhanced durability.

As a company we always put quality and safety first and foremost, so we are very proud to announce we have achieved the ISO 9001:2015 quality standard.

Goals made in BritainISO 9001 is defined as the internationally recognised standard for Quality Management Systems (QMS). It is the most widely used QMS standard in the world, and is globally-accepted as an indicator of exceptional service and products.

To be awarded this prestigious recognition, we had to demonstrate our ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. We also needed to show we aim to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system.

Applying for the standard gave us the opportunity to closely examine the way we operate across our business, from goal design and manufacturing to our customer service. The 12 month process has resulted in a number of new systems being implemented and the introduction of a dedicated quality manager into the company. ISO 9001 also requires continuous review and assessment in order to retain this standard so you can be assured that our products will always be the highest quality.

Having ISO 9001:2015 is another step in our constant drive for the highest standards.

It sits alongside our approved supplier status with the football foundation, membership of the International Hockey Federations quality programme and MH Goals MD Mark Harrod’s role as an independent expert for the British Standards Institution (BSI) and the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN).

The Pro Self Weighted Hockey Goal and the Aluminium Self Weighted Hockey Goal have both been independently tested to the stringent International Hockey Federation (FIH) class 1 standards, and each has passed with flying colours.

The requirements for meeting the grade cover all aspects of the goal, from the dimensions, to the material used and the fixings. The strength of the goals is essential, and there should be no crushing or shearing hazards or a risk of entrapment.

The FIH Quality Programme provides consistent and dependable industry standards for a range of equipment and facilities used by the game of hockey. As a manufacturer of FIH Approved field equipment MH Goals is part of an exclusive group that is working in partnership with the FIH to ensure the quality and performance of hockey equipment. It demonstrates our commitment to hockey and industry best practice.

As a company which prides itself on safety and quality construction, achieving these standards is incredibly important and we are pleased to now be able to display the FIH seal of quality on these products. They join our Hockey 5s Foam Rebound Boards, which were certified earlier this year.

After six months in the product design phase followed by extensive testing, MH Goals is now pleased to reveal our new Hockey 5s foam rebound boards.

Hockey 5s Foam Board

We have designed these lightweight, durable rebound boards to make setting up your Hockey 5s pitch quick and easy. Manufactured from closed cell cross linked co-polymer foam they are tough enough to stand up to the most high-paced games, but light enough to be easily transported and stored. Plus, each board is fully wrapped with waterproof material, which is an ideal surface to print your club or sponsor logos on.

The boards are 1.95 metres long, 250mm high and 150mm deep, and come complete with joining bars. Specially designed corner joiners and goal attachments allow you to complete a full regulation 40m x 23.7m pitch securely and safely.

As you would expect from MH Goals, these boards have been independently lab-tested as well as tested in real-world conditions, and we are pleased to say they meet the stringent FIH class 1 and 2 standards.

‘Hockey’s 5s is really starting to take off and we wanted a product that could take the punishment of this fast-paced game but still be easy to move and set up,” said MH Goals MD Mark Harrod. “Using a high-density foam wrapped in a fully customisable waterproof coating gives the user not just flexibility on the pitch but a whole array of branding opportunities as well. I’m also delighted we achieved the top class 1 standard from the FIH’s quality programme for this product’.

The Hockey 5s Foam Rebound Boards will be released in April this year.

If you’re an organisation which provides sporting facilities for grassroots football, you could be eligible for a Football Foundation grant of thousands of pounds towards new goals for your ground.

The Football Foundation is a charity jointly funded by the Premier League, the FA and the government, set up to help communities improve their local football facilities by providing grants for new equipment.

Who it’s for

You can apply for a Football Foundation grant if you fit one of these categories:

  • Not for profit football clubs or voluntary groups
  • Local Authorities
  • County FAs
  • Professional Club Community Organisation
  • An educational establishment providing facilities for the community
  • A registered charity
  • A not-for-profit company
  • A community interest company (CIC) or other social enterprise
  • A company limited by guarantee

They’re not for:

  • Individual or sole trader
  • National governing bodies
  • Commercial or for-profit entities
  • A club within the Premier League, Football League, National League (Steps 1-6), Regional Feeder League (Step 7), Women’s Football Pyramid (Tier 1-5) or the Cymru Premier League
  • Educational establishments providing facilities solely for their students.

Choosing your goals – what you need to know

The Football Foundation provides grants for the purchase of new or replacement pairs of goalposts for use within community grassroots football.

To be eligible for the grant, the goalposts you buy must meet safety standards BSEN 748:2013+A1:2018 and/or BSEN 16579:2018 (all our goals are fully compliant with the latest safety standards). They must also be installed in accordance with manufacturer requirements.

The following sizes are eligible for funding:

  • 11v11 (Both senior size 2.44m x 7.32m and junior size 2.13m x 6.4m)
  • 9v9 (2.13m x 4.88m)
  • Mini Soccer (1.83m x 3.66m)
  • Futsal (3m x 2m)
  • Goalposts for 3G pitch – (If the goalposts are for use on a 3G pitch it should be certified for use and be listed on the FA’s 3G Pitch Register).

The following aren’t eligible for funding:

  • Goalposts which have already been ordered or bought.
  • Individual goalposts
  • Replacement parts or nets
  • Replacement of goalposts which have previously been purchased with Football Foundation funding.
  • Other items such as corner flags, football kit, footballs or cones.

The grants

The maximum grant you can apply for depends on the size of the goalposts you are purchasing:

  • 11v11 (both senior and junior sizes) – You can apply for a maximum of £1,200 per set (or 75% grant up to the maximum grant value) based on a typical average purchase price of £1,600 including carriage, but excluding VAT
  • 9v9 – You can apply for a maximum of £900 per set (or 75% grant up to the maximum grant value) based on a typical average purchase price of £1,200 including carriage, but excluding VAT
  • Mini Soccer – You can apply for a maximum of £900 per set (or 75% grant up to the maximum grant value) based on a typical average purchase price of £1,200 including carriage, but excluding VAT
  • Futsal – You can apply for a maximum of £600 per set (or 75% grant up to the maximum grant value) based on a typical average purchase price of £800 including carriage, but excluding VAT

The application procedure

To apply for your grant you will need to visit the Football Foundation website and fill in your application on there. All they will need from you is a little background information about your organisation and you may also be required to show that they meet the latest safety standards – though as MH Goals is an approved supplier, the Football Foundation already know all our goals meet the requirements.

Once you have submitted your application you’ll get a confirmation email to say your application has been received, and then another email once a decision has been made and the decision letter (and any associated terms and conditions) is available to download from your FF account. This usually arrives within five working days.

Remember, don’t order or purchase goals until your grant has been confirmed. Also, the grant must be used to buy the goals you specified on the application – if you’ve changed your mind then you must get approval to change your goalpost type first before you place the order.

It’s not necessary for you to be a football club to apply to the Football Foundation, however grassroots football must be an integral part of what you offer.

The Football Foundation requests applications are made no more than once a season, so make sure you’ve included everything in your submission you think you’ll need. To apply, and to see full details plus terms and conditions, please see their website at www.footballfoundation.org.uk

We are delighted to announce that the patent for our unique Evolution wheel has now been granted.

Lift and Lower Evolution Wheel

When the latest football safety standard BSEN16579 was first announced, one of the big changes was a greater focus on mitigating the hazards of finger entrapment and shear points on sports equipment.

Rather than seeing this as a problem to be overcome, we instead recognised it as a fantastic opportunity – it’s not often you get a chance to reinvent the wheel! Our ultimate goal was to produce a wheel which not only conformed to the new safety standard but improved the design of the standard football goal wheel too. After months of designs, prototypes and testing we had a result – the Evolution wheel.

The most obvious change is that the plates and handle which were a feature of the old unit have gone, removing the entrapment risk and shear points. To replace them we have designed and implemented a simple but effective turn handle system which can be operated in multiple ways; you have the choice of using a short, compact handle, a handle with a long shaft so it can be turned from a standing position, and even a powered drill, making it as accessible as possible.

Along with ensuring the Evolution wheel conforms to the latest safety standards, these changes have greatly improved its strength and removed common issues with handled wheels such as the plates bending and the wheels splaying out.

You may think with so many changes this wheel would only be compatible with goals produced by MH Goals. However, we have designed it so it can be retrofitted to most aluminium goals, so you can still have wheels which are compatible with the latest safety standards, even if your goal wasn’t made by us.

The Evolution wheel passed the BSEN16579 safety standard with ease back in April 2019 and has been gracing pitches throughout the UK and across the world ever since.  You can see it in action in the video below; to get yours, click here.

One of our most recent projects has been the supply and installation of new goals at Wiltshire FA’s latest football facility – Green Lane Playing Fields.

The £1.7 million facility will improve quality and access to football facilities in Wiltshire, helping increase grassroots participation and reaching more people from the local community through football.

At its heart is a 3G pitch for all weather play with three grass pitches surrounding it for training and matches.

MH Goals is Wiltshire FA’s preferred supplier of goals and as well as installing the goals at Green Lane Playing Fields we will be maintaining them as well, to ensure safe play for everyone.

Matthew Harrod, Sales Director at MH Goals said, “We are delighted to be working with Wiltshire FA. It has been an unprecedented few months but now with the installation of the goals it means the site is ready and the game can get going.

“The facility is an impressive, purpose-built hub for football, and we are installing high quality goals and nets that comply to the latest safety standards.

“As experts on goal post safety, design and manufacturing we encourage any of the clubs in Wiltshire to get in touch to find out more about our wide range of safe and durable football equipment. We are more than happy to give them expert advice on safety and maintenance, and as part of our partnership with Wiltshire FA, we are offering affiliated clubs in Wiltshire up to 20% discount on goals, line markers and nets.”

When it comes to choosing the right goal for your ground, the options can seem overwhelming. Our range has over 100 different goal variations, to meet the needs of every type of pitch, so how do you know which one to choose? We present to you the Ultimate MH Goals Guide.

GOAL SIZE

Your goal size will be determined mainly by the age group using the equipment. Younger children will play on smaller pitches and require smaller goals to suit their size and focus on skill development. As they get older, larger goals are used to introduce the adult game.

The FA official guidelines for the right size of goal for each age group are:

  • 24 x 8ft (7.32 x 2.44m) Full sized: Age 16 and above
  • 21 x 7ft (6.40 x 2.13m) Youth sized: Age 13-15
  • 16 x 7ft (4.88 x 2.13m) 9v9: Age 11-12
  • 16 x 6ft (4.88 x 1.83m) and 12 x 6ft (3.66 x 1.83m) Mini Soccer: Age 7-10
  • 16 x 4ft (4.88×1.2m) and 12 x 4ft (3.66 x 1.2m) 5 a Side: All age groups

GOAL TYPE

Football goals come in two types, either socketed or freestanding. Which type you go for will depend on where and how you will use your equipment.

Freestanding goals

These offer unparalleled flexibility and ease of use. Whether you play on an enclosed synthetic pitch or use a local authority ground there’s a freestanding goal for you.

Socketed goals

Socketed goals come with sleeves that you concrete into the ground or fix in place with our DIY Ground Screw which removes the need for digging and concrete all together. This type of goal used heavily in the adult game (24 x 8ft goals) and is the default choice for league clubs and open pitches.

GOAL MATERIAL

At MH Goals we manufacture our goals at our factory in Suffolk from either aluminium or steel. Both materials have their benefits:

Aluminium

  • Light, so it’s easy to move
  • Doesn’t corrode
  • All MH Goals aluminium goals come with welded corners as aluminium goals that are just been cut or mitred have extremely sharp edges and can be unsafe
  • Aluminium goals have significant scrap value so we recommend they are used in an enclosed area or are taken down or chained together after use

Steel

  • Extremely strong so will stand up to an enormous amount of abuse
  • Less expensive than aluminium so great value
  • Excellent for use on open pitches

MH Goals is proud to present our new lift and lower Revolution portable goal. With its swivel wheel it’s been designed to easily go through narrow gates and accesses while still having the ability to be used on all playing surfaces.

The new Revolution goal is packed with features and has been designed not just for the top flight clubs, but for use at every level of the game. The goal itself is manufactured from our new reinforced aluminium section which is able to accommodate the lift and lower Revolution swivel wheels.

The in line Revolution swivel wheel is able to lift the goal 60mm off the ground and due to its all-terrain solid wheels it can easily be used not only on synthetic surfaces, but also the most challenging grass pitches. The wheel mechanism is a triumph of simple yet effective design that enables the user to quickly lift and lower the goal with just a turn of the Revolution handle. What’s more this goal can also be used with our internal weight system, removing the need for any external anchorage. Like all of our aluminium goals the Revolution will use our Hold Fast net hook system ensuring your net stays safe, neat and tidy.

Matthew Harrod, Sales Director of MH Goals said, “The Revolution goal has been in development since 2018 and we’re delighted to now take the wraps off our first prototypes. Our overall aim for this goal has been to design something that is just as usable on a synthetic pitch as a grass pitch, giving the user total flexibility.”

BTME 2020 was the first public outing for the lift and lower Revolution goal with further testing and development taking place at a number of table topping Premier League clubs over the next few months. The Revolution will be available in all sizes from full sized to 5 a side, with the first production ready models ready for purchase in the spring.

The lift and lower Revolution is protected by Design Right No. 6081309 and Patent Pending No: GB1812267.1 (2018)

MH Goals has been at the cutting edge of goal post safety testing for years and as many people will know, our company MD is a recognised independent expert for the BSI.

The biggest change to goal post safety in recent years was the introduction of BSEN16579 which overhauled the old BS8462 standard. This new standard addressed a number of safety issues and has been well received by the public.

However, goal testing is an ever-evolving beast and we are always looking to improve future goal testing, and asking what else can be done to increase safety and make the tests more applicable to real world applications.

With this in mind, along with a select few European manufactures and the support of the BSI and the CEN committee (The European Committee for Standardisation), MH Goals has created a new testing method and apparatus which will form part of the next football safety standard.

The current standard uses a vertical and horizontal pull test but this doesn’t take into consideration how somebody would actually interact with the goal should they want to swing on the crossbar. We also wanted to add to this how the difference in the length of the runback can have an impact on the stability of a freestanding goal.

These issues has been discussed in the past but no conclusive testing data or apparatus had been put forward until MH Goals started investigating this back in June. A number of parameters had to be set in order to make the testing relevant and realistic, including the size of the goals, the mass (weight) to be swung off the crossbar, the angle of the swing and how the weights were too be hung. It was decided that we would test both the 24x8ft and 12x6ft goals as they are the most popular size in the UK with a range of back bar weights. The weight hung from the crossbar would range from 74- 192kg, this covered the average weight of a single child to two average adults.

Cradle Weights

The angle of 60 degrees was chosen as it would give a large amount of initial inertia to see the effect on the goal and was deemed to be more realistic within the constraints of the goal and the human body. In order to get stable and reliable data MH Goals had to design and build a new testing rig that replicated the swinging motion of a person hanging from the crossbar. To achieve this we created a steel basket/cradle that was able to safely hold a varying amount of different masses which was attached to a remote operation release hook and our standard goal testing rig.

Overall MH Goals has now conducted hundreds of tests with varying weights across both goal sizes. This has offered a real insight into the correlation between the swing mass, weight inside the goals and the difference in stability of goals with a reduced runback length. The data gained from these tests and our previous testing in March is now being correlated with the rest of the CEN committee and will be made available in the near future. However these tests prove beyond doubt the importance of continuing to review and adapt current methods of testing in order to produce safe sports equipment now and in the future.

Every goal produced by MH Goals conforms to BSEN16579, making them even safer for everyone who uses them, from Premier League to Sunday league.

MH Goals is run by Mark Harrod, the UK’s only recognised independent expert on goalpost safety, design and manufacturing, so the safety of the products we manufacture is, and always has been, paramount.

This is why every product we make conforms to the latest safety standards – and why for the last three years we have been busy testing and improving our goals to conform to BSEN16579, the newest safety standard which came into effect in 2018 and which all goals made in the UK must conform to.

BSEN16579 has brought with it a number of significant changes to how all goals should be tested and manufactured. Greater attention is paid to shear points, and the dangers of finger, limb and head entrapment. Goals must now pass a more stringent tip test, greater force is applied to the goal frames in the strength tests, and there is now a new category for mediumweight goals which must pass their own set of requirements.

Goalpost safety testing for BSEN16579We carry out two levels of testing on our goals, firstly in-house throughout the design and prototype stage, then at Labosport, the Football Foundation’s preferred test laboratory. This process of check and double check means you can buy goals from MH Goals with complete confidence in their safety and quality.

In all, dozens of tests are carried out on our goals before a safety certificate is issued. These are performed using a range of specialised equipment, including a set of probes and a high-grade steel rig which can apply over 3,000 Newton metres of pressure. You can find out more about these tests here.

And while all MH Goals goalposts are BSEN16579 compliant, we’re not resting on our laurels. Safety standards are constantly evolving and we have recently completed extensive research on the stability of freestanding goals in conjunction with the British Standards Institution and the European Committee for Standardisation. This research has been discussed at the highest level in Europe at the annual CEN meeting in Berlin, and will now go forward to shape the next generation of goal design and safety testing, of which we will – of course – be at the forefront.

Football is now the biggest participation sport for women and girls in England.

According to FA statistics there are now over 2.5 million registered female players in England, and the number of registered women’s teams is set to hit 12,000 by next year. There are more than 900 Wildcats FA Girls’ Football Centres around the country and 41,000 female FA qualified coaches.

Last August we began sponsoring Manchester Futsal Club, and their women’s team has achieved an impressive double at the end of this season, winning both the Futsal League and the Futsal Cup.

We also sponsor the Cornwall Women’s County Cup, and at the end of April our MD Mark Harrod had the privilege of visiting Bodieve Park to witness the final and present the trophy and medals to eventual victors Callington Town Ladies, who ran out 7-0 winners over Bude Town Ladies. He gave both sides MH Goals gift vouchers so the clubs could buy high quality sports equipment for next season.

MH Goals Cornwall FA Ladies Cup Final

Elite level women’s football is also experiencing a renaissance at the moment, with crowds at the FA Cup final trebling between 2014 (15,098) and 2018 (45,423), while over 55,000 have watched the national team, dubbed the Lionnesses, play at Wembley. They came third in the last World Cup, the highest placed European side, and are looking to go further in France this summer.

However it’s not just football where women’s sport is strong. England’s women’s rugby team has been in seven World Cup Finals out of eight and finished 3rd the one time they missed out. England’s women cricketers are current world champions, and will be looking to defend their title at the 2021 World Cup in New Zealand.

And England’s Women’s Netball team won the BBC’s Greatest Sporting Moment of the Year and Team of the Year in 2018 when they claimed Commonwealth gold against hosts and overwhelming favourites Australia, with a last-second goal in the final. They’ll be looking to consolidate on that victory with a World Cup win later this summer.

International success filters down and inspires girls and women at grassroots level. Along with initiatives such as #ThisGirlCan and the BBC’s #ChangeTheGame, there is more interest in women’s sport in this country than there has been for a generation. Long may it continue.

MH Goals is now the Officially Approved Goalpost Supplier to the Independent Schools Football Association (ISFA).

ISFA logo

While independent schools are traditionally associated with rugby football rather than association football, the round ball game has always had a presence at many independent schools, going back to the days of the Corinthian Casuals.

The ISFA has been represented on The FA Council since 1904 but became more organised in the 1960s through the work of the headmaster of Brentwood School, Richard Sale, who was the independent school representative on the FA council (and who coincidentally spent the last years of his life in Beccles, just two miles from our HQ).

Over the years the organisation has expanded, with representative programmes at regional and national levels for U13s to U18s, and a girls section which was added to the ISFA in 2005. Now over 360 independent schools are currently affiliated with the ISFA, and that number is expected to increase for the upcoming 2019/2020 season.

“We are really pleased to be working with the ISFA,” said Matthew Harrod, MH Goals sales director. “Independent schools football is booming, and it’s great that we can provide schools across the country with high quality, ultra safe goals for their pupils to play in.”

The ISFA teams often play against professional clubs, and the ISFA cup, which is one of many tournaments organised by the ISFA, is regarded as one of the most prestigious trophies in youth football. Frank Lampard, Victor Moses, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Michael Keane and Fraser Forster are just some of the professional players who attended an ISFA member school, and with more and more children of Premier League players attending independent schools, the standard continues to climb.

“The Independent Schools FA is delighted to welcome MH Goals on board as one of our partners and Officially Approved Goalpost Supplier,” stated Mark Dickson, Chief Executive of the ISFA. “They have been leaders in this field for many years now and have built up a reputation for quality throughout the game. We are very pleased to recommend them to all our member schools and look forward to meeting their staff at our events during the coming seasons”.

After two years of planning and hard work, Beccles Town FC now have their own state of the art 3G pitch to play on.

Beccles Town 3G pitch

The club has suffered for years with cancelled games due to flooded pitches at their ground. Now congested fixture lists and disappointed players will be a thing of the past thanks to this £770,000 upgrade to the club facilities.

MH Goals, who are the main sponsors of Beccles Town, have been involved in the project from the start, and have provided all the goals for the new all-weather surface. This included 11 a side pro stadium box goals, 9v9 Evo self-weighted goals and our new lift and go mini soccer goals.

The pitch will have its official opening on the 12th April, but has already seen use, with the U16 and U18 teams the first to try it out. Teams from the younger age groups also made the most of the new facility, coincidentally on a day that saw prolonged bursts of heavy rain, conditions which would have rendered the previous grass pitch unplayable.

Beccles Town First Team“We feel like we’ve started things off in the right way, with our under-16s team and our under-18s who have been struggling to get a game recently because they are all being called off,” said Club chairman David Leech.

“This is a group of lads who will spend the next couple of years playing together, so it felt right for them to play on it first.”

Introducing the Lift and Go range of goals, the latest innovation from MH Goals.

Lift and Go Goal being lifted

This new range has been designed to make moving your goals as easy as possible. With this innovative design there’s no raising and lowering wheels, no unscrewing or loosening parts, no undoing chains or removing pegs. When you want to move these goals you can just lift and go!

Sturdy, ergonomically-designed handles behind each upright allow two people to easily raise the goal, then move it using the roller wheels positioned at the rear of the frame. The goals are cleverly weighted so the back bar acts as a counterweight for easy lifting when moving, but also as an anchor when stationary so there is no need for extra weights, chains or pegs to keep the goal stable.

The frames are made from 100x110mm reinforced elliptical aluminium so they are light but durable, and the 8mm channel complies to BSEN16579, working perfectly with our revolutionary Holdfast net hook system.

These goals have been designed to be suitable for every surface, and so can be used on grass, synthetic and MUGA pitches. And as you’d expect from an MH Goals product, they have been tested to the highest possible safety standards, meaning you can enjoy peace of mind while playing the game.

Available for 9V9, Mini Soccer and 5 A Side, these goals are excellent value, and they come complete with 3mm white polyethylene nets. Follow the links to find out more, or call us to place your order.

Introducing the new MH Goals garden goal range.

6×4 Lightweight Football Garden Goal Package

Our goals have graced the pitches of some of the finest stadiums that that the UK has to offer.

For years we’ve designed, built and supplied top quality goals, and you can find them being used by Premier League clubs and Sunday League teams, sports centres and schools – but we’ve never created a goal specifically for use at home.

Until now.

We are delighted to release our Garden Goal range, the first ever goals designed and priced for anyone wanting the MH Goals quality at home.

These aren’t the flimsy plastic goals sold by high street shops, or the inferior metal goals that are available online from other retailers.

Instead, these are high-quality, British-made goals which are built with the same craftsmanship, precision and regard for safety as all the goals we make. We use 80mm reinforced aluminium in both the uprights and the cross bars to make them lightweight but strong, and the corners are fully welded with internal steel joints for extra strength. We also add external heavy duty steel corner plates to ensure parts are tightened securely.

The side frames are made from 32mm zinc plated steel for extra durability, and the moulded channel works perfectly with our Holdfast net hook system to conform to the latest safety standard, BSEN 16579. A tough, powder coated finish protects against rust and gives the goal a crisp white look that will last and last.

You can choose between a 6ft x 4ft or 8ft x 4ft goal and each are available with either a fixed or folding side frame. They come with an MH Goals white net and steel Upeg anchors to secure the goal. What’s more our prices include delivery and VAT.

These goals are perfect for any budding Messi or Ronaldo, and because they are built so well they’ll easily withstand mum and dad’s attempts to relive their sporting glory days too!

MH Goals is proud to introduce our latest product innovation – the Lift and Lower Evolution.

Our current lift and lower wheel can be found at thousands of sports facilities across the UK and has become the mainstay of portable aluminium goals. However, with the introduction of BSEN16579 the design had to change to conform to this rigorous new safety standard. This may be a problem for other companies but where they see barriers, MH Goals sees opportunity.

The new Lift and Lower Evolution addresses many issues of the previous design while keeping the practicality and ease of use that the original wheel was praised for. The compact design makes for a safer product with no parts protruding past the wheel when the goal is in its lowered or playing position. This means that all solid parts are now covered by the rubber wheel, forming a barrier between players and any moving parts.

Our new design also reduces the chance of finger entrapment by decreasing and covering any gaps. A key element of the old design was the cantilever handle which is now banned under BSEN16579 as it creates a shear point and could cause possible injury; we have addressed this with the introduction of our easy to use turn handle. With just a few turns the goal is easily raised off the ground and ready to be moved. All goals will also have an extended handle which can be used at standing height making lifting and lowering the goal accessible to all.

The patent pending Lift and Lower Evolution is standard across our 100mm aluminium range from 2019 and along with a raft of other improvements makes our goals the safest and easiest to use on the market.

MH Goals has completed the largest Football Foundation funded project in the country – Parklife in Liverpool.

Football Foundation Parklife Humble Playing Fields in Liverpool

The scheme saw the construction of four football hubs in Liverpool; each with three full size 3G pitches, changing rooms and extensive car parking.

The project, called Parklife, is the brainchild of the FA, and follows on from a successful trial in Sheffield. It is a major investment in grassroots football in the city with around £20m spent on the initiative.

We supplied a total of 168 self-weighted lift and lower goals, along with team shelters, rugby goals, boot wipers and hundreds of corner poles bases and flags.

MH Goals has been a leading supply to Football Foundation projects for a number of years and is no stranger to large projects, with over 500 futsal goals provided late last year through the futsal starter pack grant.

Matthew Harrod, Sales Director for MH Goals, said – “These Parklife hubs are going to be fantastic for Liverpool and really support grass roots football in the area for many years to come. Although the quantity and value of these orders are pretty impressive they are just part and parcel of what MH Goals does best. I’m proud of everyone at MH Goals from manufacturing to our installation team who have really stepped up to get these jobs completed on time in an already busy summer season for the company.”

Last month MH Goals had the privilege of attending the opening of The Nest, a football facility run by Norwich City Community Sports Foundation (CSF).

As part of our sponsorship we supplied The Nest with two pairs of Pro Stadium wheeled 24×8 football goals, and seven pairs of self-weighted goals at various sizes. These were in addition to four Pro Team Shelters, ball stop posts and netting, and enough corner poles and flags to kit out all seven pitches, ensuring the facility has safe, quality goals and sports equipment.

MH Goals has been a business partner of the CSF since 2016, and so we were delighted to be able to help them with this new enterprise, becoming an Official Supporter of The Nest in the process.

The Nest is designed to be a sporting hub from which the CSF can reach an extra 12,000 people a year. The opening ceremony marked the completion of Phase One which included the construction of seven grass football pitches as well as the renovation of the existing clubhouse, and the installation of residential bunk boxes.

In the first few weeks over 2,000 people enjoyed the pitches and clubhouse at The Nest, including delighted young footballers who attended a special Grant Holt Soccer School.

The CSF is an organisation attached to Norwich City FC, which aims to help people achieve their goals by delivering quality, innovative services through football and sport. The plan for later phases will see an indoor sports hall, gymnasium, floodlit 3G football pitch, and classroom facilities added to the site, and increase footfall to over 300,000 visits every year. It will be the only community-focused sports hub of its kind in the East of England.

“It’s fantastic to be part of a project like this that seeks to make football accessible to all, regardless of age, ability or background,” said MH Goals MD Mark Harrod. “It’s already in great shape, and we are looking forward to being part of the next phase.”

With our recent tie up with Manchester Futsal and the new guidelines on Mini Soccer and Futsal being released by the FA, we thought there was no better time to introduce our best ever Futsal goal offer.

Get Playing With Our Futsal Goal Offer

At the start of this season the FA released new guidelines for Mini Soccer and Futsal and how they can work together to support youth football.

Futsal is a fast paced indoor variant of the game which has its roots in South America. It is played with a size 4 football on a smaller pitch, which improves close control. Many of the world’s finest footballers, including Messi and Ronaldo, have said Futsal was integral to their development.

By allowing Futsal to be played in mini soccer leagues throughout the winter months not only keeps children out of the worst of the British weather but also promotes new skills, strategies and greater freedom and enjoyment of the game.

Futsal must be played with a 3m x 2m goal that meets the latest safety standards, so to support clubs and venues that wish to get involved with this exciting sport we have reduced the price of our aluminium Indoor Folding Futsal Goals to an unbelievable £500.00 per pair, which includes VAT and delivery – saving you over £250! What’s more, this Futsal goal offer is open to everyone so there’s no need for discount codes or vouchers – just head over to our special offers page or call 01502 711298 for more details.

MH Goals are proud to announce the launch of the Holdfast Net Hook – the biggest change in net hook design for a decade.

Holdfast Net Hook

Football goal net hooks are one of the most commonly used items in the game and never a day passes without a groundsman, player or volunteer twisting and turning them into an aluminium goal. The design has remained unchanged for many years. Until now.

With the introduction of the new BSEN16579:2018 standard, the current net hook system needed changing as the chances of finger entrapment in the aluminium channels and limb entrapment from unattached netting are too high.

To replace it we have designed the Holdfast Net Hook system. By clamping the net into the channel of the aluminium it not only reduces the chance of limb and head entrapment but also makes the hook far stronger and less likely to come out.

Our new Holdfast Net Hook works in harmony with any of MH Goals new BSEN16579 conforming 100mm and 80mm aluminium football range and is a huge improvement over the old enclosed hook.

By redesigning our aluminium goals from the ground up we have been able to incorporate the net and the Holdfast hook into the body of the aluminium giving a stronger and more durable fixing. Unlike other net hooks the Holdfast system clamps the net into the bespoke channel of our aluminium goals which keeps the net neat and tidy.

The Holdfast Net Hook is made from hard wearing UV protected nylon and made right here in the UK.

The new Holdfast system has been rolled out across our entire aluminium football range so that everyone from Premier League to grassroots clubs can benefit from this innovative new system. Get in touch with us if you have any questions or need free advice on this, or any other safety issue.

After several months of planning, construction, fitting, and decorating we have finished work on our new office facility.

New MH Goals office

When we moved to our ¾ acre site eighteen months ago we were using the units that were originally here. While these are fine for general use, when it came to the exacting nature of our work they were far from ideal.

This meant building our own factory was the first priority as it allowed us to speed up production and manufacture our sport equipment to the high standard we insist on. Once we had that in place we turned our attention to our offices.

Designing from scratch gave us the ability to create a building that met our needs precisely, so now we’re in it means our administration will be far smoother, we can offer even better customer service and continue with our expansion plans.

Of course, as well as being practical we wanted it to look good as well, so as a finishing touch we’ve decorated the interior with graphics and images of some of our goals, plus installed a fantastic grass wall!

Objective:

To advise on, supply and install a range of equipment for the Beacon of Light.

This project was to install a large array of sports equipment across five floors of Northumberland’s iconic Beacon of Light centre.

The Beacon of Light is Sunderland’s most innovative sports and education facility and the first of its kind in the UK. It features five storeys of sports halls, football pitches, informal learning spaces and state-of-the-art education suites designed to facilitate four interactive zones — Education, Health and Wellbeing, Sport and Play, and World of Work. These areas have been carefully designed to deal with the region’s biggest challenges, and will create life-changing opportunities for local people to re-energise their communities.

MH Goals were brought in to advise on and supply a range of equipment suitable for the centre’s new outdoor 3G pitches, rooftop synthetic pitch and substantial sports hall. The installation included 28 self-weighted and freestanding football goals, 24 badminton posts and six international netball posts with padding. The centre will be used by both professional and amateur sports clubs as well as the general public, with all products provided needing to be hard wearing and durable for constant everyday use.

Objective:

To design and manufacture a pair of 24×8 goals that were light and highly portable for Equal Playing Field (EPF) initiative

In 2017 MH Goals were approached by Equal Playing Field (EPF) to support them in their world record attempt to climb Mount Kilimanjaro and play the highest altitude game of football ever.

The attempt was part of the EPF initiative, which aims to increase opportunity, equality and respect for women playing or working in sport, and to raise the profile of inspirational female sporting role models in the media. To succeed in their record attempt the teams needed to play using full-sized 24X8 goals, but as they needed to be carried up Africa’s largest mountain they had to be light, easy to carry, and easily broken down into small sections. The goals we designed and made for EPF were constructed from lightweight 80mm aluminium with the crossbar splitting into three sections.

The 32mm net supports were also made in sections similar to our standard folding hinged net supports, and simply clipped into place. We also had to consider the challenge of moving the goals such a distance, so we produced a set of bespoke carry bags to make transporting the posts a simple task.

The world record attempt took place on 24th June 2017 at 5714m above sea level, and has since been recognised as the highest altitude game of football ever played.

Design and manufacture of bespoke goals within a three week window

Objective:

Manufacture, deliver and install Football goals, team shelters, soccer arena with netting, and spectator stands.

After successfully supplying Chelsea’s stadium at Stamford Bridge with new stadium and training goals,
MH Goals was asked to supply a range of equipment for the their new indoor arena.

The arena is part of Chelsea’s impressive Cobham training ground and will be used by the academy for training, competitive matches and as a winter facility. As the pitch is to be used for a variety of activities everything needed to be portable, easy to move, and able to withstand
heavy use.

Chelsea requested that the pitch be completely enclosed with spectator barrier and floor to roof netting. Neither of these items is standard and MH Goals provided and installed a bespoke solution unique to Chelsea’s arena. Pitch access was also needed for both maintenance and emergency vehicles; again MH Goals sourced a number of custom-made gates for vehicle and pedestrian access.

Fully portable spectator seating that could comfortably seat 30 people was required and this was sourced and installed by MH Goals.

To finish the project off, four Mini Soccer and four 9v9 Pro Stadium Wheeled Goals were supplied and installed. These goals give a match day feel and are fully portable; the smaller sizes also suit the age range of the academy

Objective:

Manufacture, deliver and install Football, Hockey and Rugby goals along with bespoke floodlight pads and pitch accessories.

In late 2016 Manchester University embarked on the largest ever Football Foundation funded project.
The Fallowfield campus site had four new synthetic turf pitches — two hockey, one football and one rugby pitch — with MH Goals supplying all of their required sports and site equipment.

For a university that prides itself on the professional sports programme it offers, only the highest quality equipment would do. MH Goals supplied a range of self-weighted football goals including full size, 9V9 and Mini Soccer, all of which are approved by the Football Foundation. The rugby posts are full height 13m hinged aluminium goals, perfect for professional standard matches but also light and easy to move when the pitch is required for other sports.

We are very proud to be able to offer bespoke options to our customers, and will very rarely turn down a request. The purple branding at Manchester University is unmistakable, and when we were asked if we could incorporate this into our pro hockey goals we were only too happy to oblige.

After obtaining the University’s specific RAL number we were able to match the powder coating, carpet and netting to their purple branding to produce some unique, incredible looking goals. This even applied to the net hooks used on the football goals, which we made specifically to match the University’s purple.

On top of this we produced a wide range of bespoke purple floodlight column protection pads which also carry the University’s logo, further enhancing the overall look of this impressive site.

MH Goals were recently at the Bedfordshire FA End of Season Maintenance Event as sponsors of the Groundsman of the Year award.

The five shortlisted candidates for Groundsman of the Year were visited earlier in the week by a select panel, consisting of James Petty (Football Development Manager), Phil Jeggo (Institute Of Groundsmanship) & Alan Moorhouse (Beds FA Council Member).

The winner was revealed to be Wesley Matthews, the head groundsman at The Warren where Elstow Abbey play in the Bedfordshire County Football League Division Two.

Phil Jeggo (Regional Pitch Advisor) commented “Wes presented a fantastic, well maintained playing surface on limited resources. His innovative ideas are clearly a result of thinking outside of the box and this has resulted in using cricket covers to beat the big freeze as well as making his own aerating equipment and machinery based on his handcraft skills to compete with the desired effect of any purchased equipment.”

MH Goals Sales Director Matthew Harrod presented Matthews, who works as a director at Kempston Windows, with a PJM Linesman line marker machine along with 50L of ready-to-use paint.

“Wesley has produced an outstanding pitch this season and shown real initiative in gaining maximum results with limited resources. He is a very worthy winner of Bedfordshire FA’s Groundsman of the Year and I know he will make good use of his new line marker and paint.”

MH Goals Managing Director Mark Harrod is widely known as one of the country’s leading authorities on sport equipment safety, and has now been recognised as an independent expert for the British Standards Institution (BSI) and the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN).

Mark Harrod

Sports equipment safety has been an integral part of Mark’s career for over 40 years, and he has advised on many of the standards that have been conceived and implemented in the UK and Europe.

Mark was initially brought in as an industry expert for the BSI in the early nineties when he advised on the first European sports equipment standard EN 748. Through a process of rigorous testing, product redesign and consistently pressing the need for change, BSEN748 was successfully implemented and has been the benchmark for sports equipment safety ever since.

Although this was a breakthrough for equipment safety, BSEN748 didn’t cover smaller sized football goals. In 2004 Mark was again asked to advise on the revision of the PAS standard with a number of football’s governing bodies, including the FA and the Football Foundation. This lead to the new BS8462 safety standard, which covered small sided football goals, Mark was also involved in the revision of this standard in 2012 to include the new 9v9 football goals size.

Mark Harrod and MH Goals are still at the very forefront of sports equipment safety, and have been advising the BSI and CEN on the new BSEN16579 safety standard which will come into full effect in July this year. Mark currently sits as a technical expert on CEN/TC 136 advising on manufacturing, safety and test methods for goals and is one of only a hand full of these experts worldwide.

If you would like details on the new standard or would like to discuss any aspect of goal post safety please contact us and talk to Mark direct on 01502 711298.

MH Goals has won the contract to supply the sports equipment for Sunderland’s flagship new sports and education facility – the Beacon of Light.

Beacon of Light lay out

The Beacon of Light, due to open its doors to the public in the summer, is a five storey multi-functional sports, health and education centre which includes a multi-use sports hall and six outdoor football pitches. It also features the impressive football barn, an arena on the top floor which measures 60 x 60m, comfortably providing space for 2 five a side pitches.

Now the building work is in its final stages, we will be supplying a full range of freestanding and self-weighted 5 a side, mini soccer, 9v9 and futsal goals along with many badminton and netball posts.

While the venue is state of the art, it’s designed as a facility for the whole community to use – as Jamie Wright, Assistant Director of Sales and Delivery at Beacon of Light says, “It’s not an elite environment, the Beacon is for everybody, but the facilities are elite.”

Pressure Jet Markers Ltd (PJM) is the oldest line marker manufacturer in the country and has produced machines that have graced hundreds of major sports events over the last 60 years. Its history is a fascinating story of machines and innovations that were far ahead of their time.

Pressure Jet Markers was formed off the back of Peacock & Holmes Ltd who started making line-marking machines in 1951. The first was called the Holmes Jet Marker.

Pressure Jet Markers 1st advert

What made this machine different to its competitors was the deliberate omission of a transfer wheel. Instead it used a high-pressure jet to spray paint directly onto the grass – the first line marker ever to do so. This was done by a rotary pump driven by the rear wheels, which drew the liquid from the five-gallon tank, all of which was controlled by a hand lever.

Pressure Jet Markers old catalogue

In 1952 a third director and engineer called Hugo Varley joined the company, bringing with him much-needed investment and expertise. The three men decided to rename the company after its promising new product, and so Pressure Jet Markers Ltd was born.

In order to propel the company forward they moved to larger premises in Stamford Brook, Hammersmith, and worked on increasing the product range and raising the profile of Pressure Jet Markers Ltd. During this time the range expanded to include new line markers (both hand and tractor drawn), power pumps, hedge cutters, athletic hurdles and even starting blocks. They also started exhibiting at Hurlingham (the forerunner to IOG SALTEX) and their markers were receiving rave reviews – after seeing the machine at the 1953 show, the horticultural correspondent at the Times described it as ‘The most ingenious machine at the show’.

Things were going well for Pressure Jet Markers and in the late 50s they released the first power driven line marker. It was highly mobile, powerful and capable of carrying 30 gallons (135 litres) of line marking material. It was a revelation at the time, and though the price of £150 meant it was out of the reach of most clubs, councils and large organisations showed great interest in this labour-saving machine.

Pressure Jet Markers power driven marker

Throughout the 60s and 70s PJM expanded further, moving again to larger premises and turning their attention to a range of more budget friendly transfer wheel machines. It was during this period that one of the world’s finest transfer wheel line marking machines was born – The Dimple. The machine was a revelation, using a unique dimpled transfer wheel that was far superior at moving and distributing the paint from tank to pitch. It was made from a solid piece of cast iron and the extra weight aided the definition of the line it produced.

The Dimple machine’s quality was soon recognised and within a very short time it was being used at some of the country’s finest venues including Wembley, Wimbledon, and The Queen’s Club. It became the byword for marking quality and is still used at many Premier League clubs and other elite venues today.

Pressure Jet Markers Old Dimple Machine

In the 1980s a new motorised dry line marker was produced – the MDL1. It was an incredibly durable machine which could lay a line in the worst conditions, and had been designed to a very high specification. However with quality comes a price, and at £840.00 (the equivalent to around £2,500 in today’s money) the machine never really took off.

Pressure Jet Markers MDL1

As the years went by, the Pressure Jet Markers and motor powered machines that had inspired the company were eventually retired. This was in part due to the ever-rising cost of the machines, but mainly due to the inconsistency of the paint available at the time, which meant the machines were never able to fulfil their potential. It can only be speculated how successful the machines would have been had they only had access to the paint of today.

So this left Pressure Jet Markers to focus on, and continually hone, its main products which were the class leading transfer wheel machines – The Linesman, The Prince and The Dimple.

In 2016, after 64 years of business the current directors, who had been there for much of the company’s life, were looking to retire. If no buyer could be found PJM would cease trading and the great company would be consigned to the history books. There aren’t many people in the sports equipment market who haven’t dealt with PJM, and over his 40 years in the industry our MD Mark Harrod was no exception.

At heart, PJM was still a small engineering company and with much of the industry’s line marking machines now made abroad there was little interest in them. However with our large manufacturing facility and emphasis on British engineering, Mark knew that we could find PJM a new home at MH Goals.

‘It would have been easy to absorb the company into MH Goals and simply lose the company name altogether, but with PJM’s distinguished heritage it just didn’t make sense.’

Their great product range is highly respected in the industry, so when we acquired the company we didn’t want to reinvent the wheel. However, things needed to be brought up to date and so we introduced laser cut parts, zinc plating and improved powder coating to the machines, so you still get Pressure Jet Markers’ trusted design, with today’s quality manufacturing for ease of use and enhanced durability.

With the backing of MH Goals the future is bright for PJM and their great machines will be marking pitches for years to come.

MH Goals is contributing nearly £1000 worth of equipment to help junior footballers make the transition to the adult game.

Norfolk FA

Norfolk FA is running a series of workshops this spring to explore the best way to bridge the gap between youth football and senior football.

Aimed at U15-17 managers, the evenings will consist of group work, networking and sharing good practice as well as an opportunity to present modern day challenges and receive support from peers and Norfolk FA staff.

We are providing four bespoke training goals as an incentive for people to sign up to these valuable workshops. Every attendee will be entered into a draw to win a goal, which are worth £210 each.

MH Goals Sales and Marketing Director Matthew Harrod said: “We have worked with Norfolk FA for many years and seen first-hand the great programmes and workshops they offer. ‘Next Step’ will greatly benefit grassroots football in the county and MH Goals is delighted to offer our support.”

Norfolk FA’s Senior Football Development Officer, Stacey Annison said: “We’re excited to be able to deliver these ‘Next Step’ workshops as we think they will have a really positive impact on those involved in Norfolk Football, in particular those that are involved in or have direct influence on this important age bracket.”

“The support that our partners MH Goals have given us with regards to these workshops is great and their contribution of nearly £1000 worth of equipment is testament to how much they appreciate the local grassroots game.”

One of the most rewarding parts of our work is to be able to support grassroots football, and so we were pleased to supply a new set of goals to a community pitch in Nottinghamshire.

However, the first players to test the new posts weren’t Sunday League battlers or enthusiastic youngsters. Instead it was a group of men who are old enough to remember nail studded boots, leather footballs and where they were when England won the World Cup.

Walking FootballMansfield Walking Reds Over-60s formed in 2014, and numbers have grown ever since. They meet twice a week, run Over 50s and Over 60s sessions, and even go abroad to play (they’re twice champions of the Los Montesinos tournament in Spain). They christened the goals on the 1st of February with two games and over 30 players.

The new goals were provided for their pitch in Mansfield as part of our partnership with Nottinghamshire FA. MH Goals has been their endorsed goalpost supplier since 2016, due to our reputation as a manufacturer of high quality goals with an emphasis on safety.

MH Goals offer exclusive discounts to all FA affiliated clubs, you can find out more here.

And if you’re interested in walking football visit Walking Football United to find a club near you.

With winter now upon us, bringing with it shorter days and colder weather, it can be easy to cut corners when doing a goalpost safety check. However just spending a few moments more on the set up and maintenance of your equipment will help prevent injury and prolong the life of your goals.

Goal post safety is paramount to MH Goals, and all equipment manufactured by us conforms to the latest British and European safety standards. What’s more, our MD Mark Harrod is one of the UK’s leading experts on goal post safety, design and manufacturing, and is recognised as an independent expert by the British Standards institute (BSI) where he consults on both British and European sports equipment safety standards. In light of this Mark has offered tips and advice on maintaining your goals that will serve you all year round.

Check bolts are tightened and securely fastened

Loose nuts and bolts can cause a number of issues. The goal will become unstable, pieces will fall off while in play, and there will be increasing wear and tear on other parts. This is a simple fix as many goals use the same size parts, so a quick turn with a 17mm or 13mm spanner can eliminate many future problems.

Should any parts be missing it is vital that the goals are not used until the required repairs have been made.

Secure fittings are an essential part of a goalpost safety check

Replace any net hooks that have gone missing or have broken

Nets that are not properly fastened to the goals not only look untidy but can cause a real safety issue with an increased chance of players becoming tangled in the net. If the goals are aluminium they will most likely use an enclosed hook that slots into the moulded channel of the goal. With steel and plastic goals that don’t have this channel, Velcro or cable ties can be used to secure the nets to the posts.

Screen Shot 2017-12-04 at 10.36.01

Check corners for cracks or the aluminium splitting

Aluminium that has been simply cut or mitred tends to separate, leaving sharp exposed corners. It’s important if you have this type of goal to regularly check they are still safe to use, as they can cause serious injuries. Goals with welded corners don’t have this issue as the edge is covered by a smooth weld; however it is still important to check these as misuse or old age can cause the aluminium to crack.

Joints should be a focus of your goalpost safety check

Check wheel mechanisms

The wheels on any football goal tend to take a lot of abuse but there are a few things that can be done to keep them in good working order. Greasing the moving parts will keep the wheels running smoothly and reduce wear on all parts.

As with the goal frames, you should check that the nuts and bolts are tightened to keep the wheels tight and in line to prolong their life. Lowering the wheels when not in use takes the weight off the moving parts and reduces the risk of damage.

Screen Shot 2017-12-04 at 12.00.14

Make sure weights are attached and correct amount being used

Every goal manufactured by MH Goals is tested to conform to the latest British and European safety standard, but this is only applicable when the goal is properly anchored. There are a few ways in which goals are anchored, including handbag weights, sand bag weights, U peg anchors, chains and internal weights.

Handbag weights can be chained to the corner of the goal to make it safe, but it’s important to check that the right amount are being used – six per goal for 24×8 and 21×7 goals and four per goal for 16×7, mini soccer and 5 a side goals. Sand bags are an easy way to add weight, and as they are flexible they can easily be placed over the back bar. We recommend three sandbags for a 24×8 or a 21×7 goal, and for 16×7 mini soccer and 5 a side goals two sand bags can be used. U peg anchors can be simply knocked over the back bar into the pitch but remember to check the conditions; a U peg anchor will not be as effective on a waterlogged pitch as it would on a dry one. If this is the case use handbag weights or sand bags to make the goal safe. If the goals have been chained to a fence or suitable post make sure that both the chain and carbine clip are in good condition and suitable for the job of anchoring your goal. We also make a range of self-weighted goals where the weight is housed inside the aluminium, removing the need for any external anchorage.

A goalpost safety check must ensure the correct weights are used to anchor the goals.

Label each goal for easy identification

Often clubs will have portable goals that are moved before and after each match, so labelling each goal will enable the user to easily identify the goals for maintenance purposes. This then simplifies the task of reporting faults, getting new parts and making the necessary repairs.

Fill out a maintenance sheet

Much like a car service history, goal maintenance sheets give the user a clear background into what has been done to a goal to keep it serviceable and safe. By regularly maintaining your goals it will also highlight issues before they become serious and make the goals unusable or dangerous.

The current recommendation is that all records relating to the goal should be kept for a minimum of 21 years to ensure that evidence of good practice is available in the event of any subsequent legal proceedings. Click the link below to find our maintenance sheet that you can print off and use for your goals.

Goalpost safety check form

Download your guide here

Check nets for holes or damage

Larges holes can appear in the nets for a number of reasons, from general wear and tear to vandalism or rodent damage. The net mesh size of a football goal is in fact governed by both British and European safety standards to reduce the risk of head and limb entrapment, so should the mesh become damaged, nets have the potential to cause serious injury. If only one or two meshes have been damaged you can use a length of twine to patch the net up, but if the damage has produced a large hole the only option is to purchase a new net.

If as a result of your checks you find any failings, we stock a huge range of replacement parts. Follow this link to see them all, or give us a call on 01502 711298 to discuss your needs.

December’s here already, and looking back it’s been an absolutely packed year – no wonder it seems to have flown by! Here are some of our 2017 highlights:

2017 review

In April the highly respected Pressure Jet Markers, famed throughout the industry for their line marking machines, became part of the MH Goals family. We worked for many years with PJM and knew them to be a family-run business that produced high quality products, so they were a perfect fit for us when the opportunity arose earlier in 2017. We are now the exclusive manufacturers of Pressure Jet Markers line marking machines, supplying them to grounds around the world.

In May we were delighted to see John Terry lifting the Premier League trophy as Chelsea swept all before them on their way to the title. We have an excellent relationship with the London club, and supply goals for Stamford Bridge as well as their Cobham training centre. We’re not saying for definite we were the main factor in their success, but in a world of marginal gains we like to think we were an integral part …

Chelsea warm up
2017 was also the year we were set an engineering challenge by Equal Playing Field, an organisation set up to advance women’s equality in sport at all levels. They were sending an all-female team of footballers to Mount Kilimanjaro in June, with the aim of breaking the world record for the highest ever game of football. To be a legitimate record attempt they needed to play with full-sized 24×8 goals, and so they contacted us. Creating a set of posts that were light, simple to assemble and disassemble, and easy to carry up a mountain was a really exciting test of our ingenuity, but we’re pleased to say we managed it – as did the team, who received their Guinness World Record award in December.

March saw us reach another milestone with the opening of our new factory. It marked the end of a year-long build, and means we can now offer a far more streamlined service, with new manufacturing equipment, more effective warehousing and a greater control over everything we produce – great for us, great for you!

2017 also saw more recognition of Mark Harrod’s reputation as one of the country’s top safety experts, as he was brought in by the BSI as an independent expert to advise on goalpost and sports equipment safety. This position has already seen him sharing his expertise during the drafting of BS EN 16579; the most demanding safety standard for goalposts ever written.

We’ve been out and about this year, exhibiting at both BTME in January and Saltex in November. It’s always great to be at these events as it gives us a chance to meet so many of our customers in person, as well as see new faces and catch up with old friends. We’re already looking forward to BTME 2018 – we’ll be at stand M15, come and see us!

Saltex 2017

In October we released our latest catalogue. With 25% more pages than last year it’s our biggest ever edition and has 57 pages dedicated to football alone. It also details our hockey and rugby ranges, as well as equipment for athletics, netball, golf, Gaelic football and much more. You can get your copy by calling us on 01502 711298.

And we’ve continued to work closely with County FAs in 2017 to support the grassroots game, and offer all affiliated clubs 20% off a large range of goals and accessories. One of our favourite events this year was to support ‘Love Football, Live Football’ – a week long celebration of local football, run by Suffolk FA. Events took place across the county, and gained backing from Ipswich Town FC, Suffolk’s top professional club.

In October 2018, the new European BS EN 16579 was published; the most significant change in goal post safety for over five years. MH Goals MD Mark Harrod was instrumental in shaping this new standard, having been brought in as an independent expert to the panel.

Testing for BS EN 16579
What is BS EN 16579?

BS EN 16579 is a Europe wide standard that replaces BS 8462:2012. It is designed to improve the safety of sports, playground and other recreational equipment.

What’s changed?

There are many changes in this standard, including:

  • Reducing the chance of finger entrapment by reducing the width of the mould net hook channel.
  • Reducing the standard net mesh size from 120mm to 100mm to reduce the risk from head entrapment.
  • Introducing a new range of medium weight goals that have an overall weight of less than 42kg, this includes for the first time a full sized goal that meets this weight limit.
  • Allowing goals to be installed using the ground screw system.

Is it just football goals that are covered by this new standard?

No. For the first time ever, rugby posts are now regulated by a safety standard. BS EN 16579 covers installation of sockets, goal strength (goal posts must now be tested to 2000N vertically and 1100N horizontally) and maintenance. As with our range of football goals, all our rugby posts meet BS EN 16579.

Do I have to change my old goals?

It is not a legal requirement as yet, though we would highly recommend that to protect yourselves and your players all equipment should meet the latest safety standards available.

If you have any further questions about BS EN 16579, or anything else to do with sports equipment safety, call us on 01502 711298 and speak directly to the experts. We will be happy to help you with this and any other matter.

For the second year running MH Goals will be supporting Suffolk FA’s Love Football, Live Football, taking place this October across the region.

This celebration of grassroots football in Suffolk was a huge success in 2016, and allows MH Goals to continue their support of the local game in the county.

Suffolk FA Senior Football Development Officer Michael Cornall said: “We are extremely excited about the return of Love Football Live Football Week.

It was fantastic to see how much the Suffolk Football Community got behind the week and really embraced this celebration of football within the county.”

There will be over forty events taking place between October 14th and 22nd, encompassing all aspects of the game from the traditional 11-a-side variant to Futsal and Walking Football. The Suffolk FA Youth Conference, a great success last year with its high profile speakers from the FA, will also make a return.

The launch of Love Football Live Football

Michael continued: “The Suffolk football community really embraced the week last year and as we look to make things even bigger and better they will continue to feature heavily in our plans for this season’s key events.”

New for this year will be the provision of bootbanks across the county, allowing players to donate their old boots to a worthy cause, and a 12 hour footballathon for charity is also being planned. The week culminates with the East Anglian derby as Ipswich welcome Norwich City to Portman Road.

Managing Director Mark Harrod said: “We’re delighted to once again be sponsoring Suffolk FA’s Love Football, Live Football Week. Last year’s event was a great success and really showcased grassroots football in Suffolk.

“This year Love Football, Live Football Week is set to be even bigger and MH Goals will also be running special offers and competitions throughout the week in support of this fantastic event.”

In Autumn 2016 we were delighted to announce the start of a three-year partnership with Norfolk County Football Association.

Nearly one year on the partnership is continuing to align and strengthen both brands, working to provide quality football equipment to grassroots clubs at affordable prices. In addition, it’s seen Norfolk-affiliated clubs provided with further discounts and regular special offers.

MH Goals are dedicated to supporting football in the area, a commitment which took Managing Director Mark Harrod and Sales Director Matthew Harrod to the opening of Norfolk County FA and Flegg High School’s new football hub, ‘theFDC@Flegg’, last October. The venue comprises a state-of-the-art, full size 3G Artificial Grass Pitch (AGP) and changing facilities, offering training and playing provision for multiple formats of football. MH Goals also supplied the twelve goals used on the playing surface, allowing games of 11v11, 9v9, 7v7 and 5v5 football to take place.

FDC Flegg opening 4

Norfolk County FA Chairman Michael Banham, who was present to open the occasion, show around key attendees and formally announce the new partnership, said: “The facilities and equipment at theFDC@Flegg are of top quality and that includes the twelve goals present on site that MH Goals have supplied. It’s fantastic that Norfolk FA has been able to form a partnership with a company that provides a service so key to our beautiful game. I am excited for the future workings between the Association and MH Goals and I look forward to seeing this collaboration continue to benefit grassroots football in Norfolk.

The facility was opened by former pupil and ex-Norwich City FC defender Ryan Bennett who was joined by his teammate John Ruddy and Millwall Lionesses goalkeeper Sarah Quantrill.

Bennett said: “The facilities here are first class, allowing the kids to train and play matches on a daily basis. I remember having some great matches here but we certainly never had this standard of facility!”

Mark Harrod, Managing Director of MH Goals, said “theFDC@flegg is an outstanding facility and we are proud to have been involved in such a great project. Norfolk FA’s passion and professionalism have really brought the county’s football into the 21st century and I look forward to the rest of our three-year deal with them. Our partnership has meant, and will continue to mean, that we are able to offer all Norfolk FA affiliated clubs discounts across a whole range of our products and provide them with professional, safe football goals direct from a trusted local manufacturer.”

It’s all systems go for MH Goals!

We’re delighted to announce the completion of a brand new factory at our Suffolk headquarters. The new factory is located on a ¾ acre site in Beccles and has been built to our bespoke design, enabling us to create the efficient production line we wanted, using modern manufacturing techniques and machinery.

MG Goals Goal Manufacturing New additions to the MH Goals facilities include a heavy-duty tube bender, new MIG and TIG welding plants and aluminium saws. To increase the effectiveness of the warehousing, bespoke racking has been installed to allow more room for stock and in turn, ensure quick and efficient dispatch at all times.

The recent acquisition of Pressure Jet Markers Ltd now means that production and distribution can also efficiently happen from its new Suffolk home.

MH Goals prides itself on British manufacturing, and where possible, UK sourced materials, both in order to support the wider community and to ensure the best quality product is created. The new factory will streamline operations as the whole process becomes more centralised; the majority of our products are cut, welded, shaped, and finished onsite. Quality control is even more stringent than before, and to meet ever-increasing demand, we’re welcoming four new members of factory staff to our team.

Lastly, all orders are now dispatched from our site. On all of our larger products we also offer nationwide delivery using our own fleet of vehicles, ensuring that new equipment arrives in pristine condition.

Mark Harrod said:This is a really exciting time for MH Goals as we expand our team, site and product range. We want to serve our customers as efficiently as we can and this allows us to do so even more effectively than before.”

MH Goals is a company that’s always looking for opportunities to grow, and as such there are already plans in place to expand and develop the site further to create larger offices, a bigger netting department and more expansive warehousing.

Our goals have been used in some pretty impressive places – for example Stamford Bridge, home of Premier League Champions Chelsea FC – but this June they’ve gone even further. Around 15,000 feet further in fact, all the way to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.

Two all-women football teams have just returned from playing a full-scale match on Africa’s highest mountain, breaking the Guinness World Record for the highest altitude game of football ever played.

It took them eight days to reach the volcanic ash plain just below the summit, and along with sleeping bags, tents, climbing equipment and survival gear, they carried with them two goalposts made specially by MH Goals.

The attempt was part of the Equal Playing Field (EPF) initiative, which aims to increase opportunity, equality and respect for women playing or working in sport and raise the profile of inspirational female sporting role models in the media.

“The problem is as simple and powerful as our love of the game,” said Erin Blankenship, co-founder of EPF (equalplayingfield.com 8th June 2017).

“The lack of equality for and representation of women in sport is appalling across the board. Equal Playing Field is taking aim at the systematic inequalities girls and women face that limit their opportunities, acceptance and value as athletes and individuals, starting with those on a football pitch.”

Equal Playing Fields 1

To succeed in their record attempt the teams needed to play using full-sized 24×8 goals. So when they approached us to supply these goals we knew that we had to create something special for this important challenge. After some intense research and development we came up with a set of goals that were light, easy to carry and could break down into small sections. We also made bespoke bags that made the goals easier to transport all the way to the top of the mountain.

Making their way to the top of Kilimanjaro was a truly international line-up: the players included former Canadian defender Sasha Andrews, Germany legend Petra Landers, Afghanistan international Hajar Abufazl amongst their ranks, plus players from Argentina, Egypt, Mexico, Great Britain, the US, France, Jordan and the UAE.

“As soon as we heard about this fantastic venture, we knew we had to get involved,” said Mark Harrod, founder of MH Goals. “Not only is the EPF an initiative that’s really close to our hearts, it was a technical challenge we could really get our teeth into. Everyone involved is really proud of what has been achieved and we look forward to working with EPF in the future.”

After a long, hard-fought season at the top of the Premier League, MH Goals customer Chelsea FC has taken the top honors this year and secured the Premiership title with a record breaking 30 league wins and came a close second to Arsenal in the FA Cup.

While the Blues were sweeping all before them, MH Goals have, over the last year, upgraded a wide range of football and grounds equipment both at Stamford Bridge and at Chelsea’s training ground in Cobham. Our new Pro Stadium goal range has been put through its paces at both sites with our Pro Stadium Socketed, Training and Wheeled Freestanding goals all being used by Eden Hazard, N’Golo Kante and Katie Chapman amongst others. And it’s not just the goals at Chelsea that bear the MH Goals marque – we were also asked to supply their training ground with a whole range of other professional equipment including team shelters, spectator barriers, ball stop posts and netting.

The new training centre boasts a fully netted and enclosed Street Soccer Arena, specially made for Chelsea FC, Pro Wheeled Freestanding Mini Soccer and 9v9 goals and four fully portable spectator stands.

Pressure Jet Markers (part of MH Goals) have also been part of the Chelsea story this year – they’ve supplied six new top of the range Dimple Line Markers for use at Stamford Bridge and at Cobham.

Jason Griffin, Chelsea FC’s Head Groundsman, noted MH Goals contribution to the Chelsea facilities this year, saying ‘MH Goals’ quality and service has been excellent and it’s been a pleasure working with Mark and his team this season’.

MH Goals is committed to supporting grassroots football, with links to regional Football Associations across the UK. One such example of this commitment is the support we’ve provided to Northamptonshire FA during our partnership so far.

Last September, MH Goals donated new Futsal goals to Northamptonshire FA’s Futsal Programme for use at the Arena Sports centre in Kettering.

Futsal is a fast-paced, high-octane game that is great for improving a player’s technical skill. The game is widely played across the world, and many World Cup winners attribute their football success to playing futsal in their youth.

In recent years it has really started to take off in the UK, and Northamptonshire FA is at the forefront by offering a number of both men’s and women’s leagues, as well as ‘Just Play’ Futsal sessions. Competitive Futsal leagues, along with recreational sessions for adults and children, ensure that there really is something for everyone!

MH Goals has been a firm supporter of futsal for a number of years and Matthew Harrod, Sales Director at MH Goals, has been delighted to able to assist Northamptonshire FA with their ever-expanding Futsal Programme. “Futsal is a great game for developing the skills of both youth and adults alike, and MH Goals was more than happy to sponsor a new pair of Futsal goals for Northamptonshire FA at Arena Sports Kettering.”

Stuart Smith, Football Development Officer at Northamptonshire Football Association added: “We’re extremely grateful to Matthew and the team at MH Goals for this new set of Futsal goals. Futsal is a superb format of the game as you get loads more touches of the ball than conventional 11-a-side football. Those extra touches fine-tune your first touch, movement, passing and skill development. We encourage all our clubs and leagues to get in touch with Arena Sports and make a booking!”

I’m also delighted that Roy will be working with MH Goals for the next few months to make the transition as smooth as possible for our customers.”

The current range of pitch line markers produced by Pressure Jet is highly regarded for their ability to produce a quality line and for their longevity. Line marker production will move from their current base in Hounslow to the new state of the art MH Goals manufacturing facility in Suffolk, to be made alongside our professional range of sports equipment.

MH Goals may be fairly new to the industry, but our experience and commitment to the industry is incomparable!

With the highly respected Mark Harrod in charge, who has over 35 years of experience in sports equipment design, safety and manufacturing, we specialise in manufacturing and distributing aluminium and steel football goals, plus a huge range of other sporting equipment and pitch essentials. In addition to football goals and nets, we cater for hockey, cricket, rugby, tennis, golf and more.

We produce sports equipment of the highest quality no matter what the sport – catering for everyone from school hockey teams to Premier League football clubs. We are already a trusted name in the industry; we run Britain’s largest County FA partnership programme and are a Football Foundation approved supplier. Our expert advice is available for anyone who requires it, contact us today to get an experienced opinion on any enquiries you may have.

Top Equipment for Top Teams

MH Goals are trusted by the very best teams. We supply current Premier League leaders Chelsea FC with stadium and pre match goals at Stamford Bridge, and more goals and pitch essentials at their training ground at Cobham. We’re not saying we’re directly responsible for their current success but we like to think our equipment had an influence!

At MH Goals we always offer the same quality and expertise, no matter the level of the club. Grassroots teams are just as important to us as the Premier League clubs we work with. We firmly believe that providing quality equipment at grassroots level is vital for British sport and we do everything we can to support it. Whether you’re Sunday League or Premier League – MH Goals has the expertise to help you.

Great British Sports Equipment

MH Goals can provide you with the highest quality sporting equipment because of its dedication to British manufacturing. We produce our own goals and nets here on the east coast of England, allowing us to provide a bespoke service you won’t get anywhere else.

All our staff have years of experience in the sports equipment industry here in Britain. Mark himself has advised trade and governing bodies over the past 35 years including CEN, BSI, FIH, The Football Foundation and SAPCA. He prides himself on producing expertly crafted equipment that go beyond the required levels of safety and quality. Using MH Goals ensures you get the best possible equipment – so you can enjoy your sport for years to come. Together, we make the game.
